NORDIK.HOUSE Colourstrings music lab

September 14, 2025 @ 10:30 - 12:30
colours

The Colourstrings Method was created in Finland in the early 1970s by Géza Szilvay, a Hungarian violinist and teacher, and his brother Csaba Szilvay, a cellist. The two Hungarian brothers revolutionized music education in Finland to the point that Colourstrings has become an integral part of the Finnish state music education system.

The Colourstrings Music School in Milan is the first in Italy to offer this method, thanks to the initiative of violinist and violist Elena Deanna Confortini, who is also the official translator of the Italian version of the method and a certified Colourstrings CCT teacher.

The music workshop consists of two sessions:

10:30-11:15 (45 min) first session for toddlers (0-3 years)

11:30-12:15 (45 min) second session for children (3-6 years)

FIRST SESSION – MUSIC KINDERGARTEN

0-3 years + mom or dad

Singing with children provides us with special experiences of love and intimacy, moments of pure joy and happiness. Movement, combined with singing, music, and rhythms, multiplies and amplifies children’s developmental and learning potential. While we sing to them, the child is free to explore the space. Because music is in the body. The body knows before the mind understands. The first years of a child’s life are the most crucial for the development of their musical aptitude and represent a unique opportunity for acquiring the language of music.

Mom or dad participates in the lesson.

SECOND SESSION – MUSIC KINDERGARTEN

3-5 years

Colourstrings is a child-friendly approach to music education, based on Kodály’s principles. The child embarks on a musical journey through imagination, play, and singing, culminating in literacy and instrumental training.

What do we do in our lessons?

– Singing and listening

– Musical and rhythmic games

– Ear training

– Dances, movement and coordination games

– Teaching activities based on the Kodály, Dalcroze, and Orff methods

– First steps in rhythmic reading and writing
